Whale Microplastic Consumption

Recent Stanford research has concluded that Whales are consuming an alarming amount of microplastics in the ocean. While whales aren't ingesting the microplastic itself, they're ingesting it from other animals such as Krill and certain fish. Whales tend to feed from 50 to 250 feet below the water's surface, which also happens to have the largest concentration of microplastic. The krill from this depth are able to survive off the microplastic, which means the whales are consuming the microplastic from the krill. Researchers are worried about the lack of nutrients being provided for these whales, which is a struggle as they are already trying to recover from other threats.
