Mars Microbes
By Scott Holmes
Summary - Ancient Mars could’ve had an environment that could sustain underground microbes. These microbes likely would’ve altered the atmosphere and developed the planet into an ice age. Boris Sauterey, researcher at Sorbonne University states that microbes are often the cause of their own demise. The microbes likely produced high amounts of methane which could protect them from the radiation and the cold surface of Mars, so it’s possible they are still around today and are just getting further below the surface to stay warm. Millions of years ago Mars likely had oceans which would be great for the microbes as well but now those oceans are gone.
