The Clean American Dream
Tyler Ainsworth
Everyone has an ideal dream when it comes to life but without leaving Fossil Fuels beind we can say goodbye to a good future.
But with that said we can’t give up completely.
We need to cut fossil fuels out and fast, we have the power to due so so why aren’t we?
In this article/video by Vox it explains it very well, not only does it give us intel into what needs to be done, but it tells us how to get it done.
As American citizens we have a very strong power which is our voices and with that we can Vote.
We can’t build wind farms or aqua farms by ourselves so that is why we choose our leader’s. In order to do whats best for the climate we have to start by looking at the issue.
The chart above goes into detail about were our fossil fuels go and how we can replace them, but to do so we need someone who has the power and force to do so.
This is why we Vote, now its a matter of who to vote for to get this done.
Now after that being said we can go into what you can do as a human being to help out with the climate crisis. Going back to that chart it all trickles down into what we do, which is heavily fossil fuel based. With another article by the NRDC it actively gives us some informationon what to do.
Our lives revolve around electricity and we really can’t live normally without it so
Some things we can do to fight against are investing in solar energy/panels, energy efficient transportation and appliances, cut waste and meat consumption (these contribute to alot of CO2 production) and finally shrink our carbon footprint.
Wrapping this all up here are a few questions:
What can we do personally to help climate change?
How can we spread awareness the best way possible?
How do we know if we are doing whats best?

The flow diagram was a very engaging representation of our fossil fuel usage. To personally help slow climate change we can walk and carpool when possible, this is a simple but impactful change that is obtainable. Additionally, I agree that voting is a great way to initiate larger change.

Personally I think the best way to spread awareness is to get the information out there in social media and spread it where people are most interested in and inform in a way that connects to the certain groups. It may not be enough to just talk about it in a classroom people will listen more if we tie it to things that interest them.

For me, I try not to eat meat whenever possible to mitigate the effects of climate change. I think many people feel that their small actions don't matter in the grand scheme of things, however if a lot of people make small and simple changes, it can make a big difference. For example, using LED/energy efficient lights, carpooling, and using less water. Like Angeline said, social media is a great way to spread awareness and educate more people about this issue.

I think a great way to create awareness is through making clubs, or posting about environmental statistics on your Instagram story or on social media. Personally I unplug my electronics when I'm not using them, and my family and I have been trying to eat less meat and more vegetables. We also have a vegetable garden that helps reduce noise pollution.

I think what we can do is make personal life adjustments to be more environmentally friendly and also to spread awareness, your changes and changes of others will add up to a larger effect. the best way to spread awareness is to tell your family and friends as well as using social media if you have a platform to be heard on. As for how do we know if we are doing what's best? i don't think its about knowing, I think its about just doing it, even if there's the slightest benefit its worth doing, anything helps. - Nathan Clark
ReplyDeleteI really liked the flow chart because it illustrates the dire situation well. I think that some personal changes anyone can make to help is trying to produce less waste and use reusable containers/ water bottles etc more, try to turn off house lights when you're not using them, and try walking more instead of driving.

DeletePersonally I think we ccan help climate change by using energy wiser and reduceing water waste. We can spread this awareness by talking about it on soical media because it can so many people are on there.

Personally, to help with climate change I try to always use my water bottle so that Im not using plastic water bottles. Some ways that we as a community can all help with climate change is to start with the little changes like making sure to turn of lights when they re not in use, not leaving the water running when you're brushing your teeth, or even just using more natural light through windows. Eventually once we all start making the little changes we can adjust and move to bigger ones to make an even bigger difference.
