In the article, it first states that a report in 2012 by the Environment Missouri Research and Policy Center, over 2.1 million pounds of toxic chemicals were dumped into Missouri’s waterways by industrial facilities. The article also stated that Missouri ranks 11th in the country for the highest amounts of toxins in our bodies of water. According to Environment Missouri, the processing plant of Tyson Foods was overall the biggest contributor to these toxins. According to the Environment Missouri report, the Tyson Foods processing plant dumped 743,235 pounds of toxic materials in 2012. Then, the article continues with the fact that humans can avoid creating toxic waste in the first place, but we will have to work hard to reduce it.
More recently, do you think Missouri is making the effort to reduce and remove this toxic waste?
Will big companies continue to dump toxic waste into our rivers and lakes?
How do you think our wildlife has been affected
